What is a Mouth Guard?

A mouth guard is a safety device that protect teeth, mouth and gums against damage or trauma and are mostly used when playing particular sports.

The Australian Dental Association strongly recommends wearing a custom mouth guard while playing  sports to ensure optimal safety, as over-the-counter mouth guards have been proven to not be as reliable.

The procedure involves an impression being taken of your teeth by one of our friendly dentists which will then be used to create your custom-fitted mouthguard.  In order to ensure it still fits correctly, it is

important to have your mouth guard checked by us at your daily dental check up.

If your adult teeth have come through or your mouth guard has been damaged you may need a replacement.

What is Splint?

Splints are removable dental appliances carefully molded to fit the upper or lower arches of teeth. They are often used to help ease muscle tension and stabilize the jaw by helping with the prevention of clenching or grinding which can occur during sleep.

The procedure is the same as a mouth guard where a mold is taken of your teeth and a custom-fitted splint is formed.
